04/23/12 WCS Officers Election

WCS will be having officer elections on Monday the 23rd. All positions are up for re-elections. If you would like to run for a position, please email me with the position you would like to run for. Thanks!

President - Plans and runs meetings, delegates tasks, works with vice and treasurer to secure funding, oversees club activity

Vice President - works with vice and treasurer to secure funding, assists with event planning and other tasks as needed.

Secretary - responsible for record keeping (meeting minutes & attendance)

Treasurer - works with the president and vice president to secure funding. Responsible for filling out paperwork to spend USG funds.

Outreach coordinator - organizes outreach events with local high schools and other outreach activities (Engineering Open house demonstrations, Aspiration in Computing Award ceremony, etc)

Programming competition coordinator - runs problem selection team, secures prizes and judges for the competition, oversees the preparation for the competition and runs the event

Industry Relations - forms partnerships between WCS and industry. May assist with recruiting speakers for meetings and getting sponsors for events.

Webmaster - Maintains the WCS website and creates the online application portal for the CSE tutoring center


04/16/12 WCS Meeting

Hi Everyone,

There will be a WCS meeting this Monday at 6:30pm in BYENG 210. We will hear from engineers at Lockheed Martin who will discuss their professional experiences and talk about what it is like to work at one of the world’s leading global security and aerospace companies.

Last Monday we met with Intel and they spoke to us about their company and what they do.

10/24/11 WCS Game Night

Hey everyone,

Last Monday meeting we had a successful game night and played various games such as Telestrations, Jenga: Donkey Kong Edition, Cranium, Contrario, Clue. We are planning to have more game nights like this in the future.

I also wanted to inform you that we have decided to hold our WCS meetings every two weeks, as opposed to every other week.

WCS has been selected to receive the NCWIT Student Seed Fund! Thanks to the generosity of the National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT) and Return Path, WCS will be able to afford some great events this year that will help us in fulfilling our mission. Volunteer times begin in the morning (see time slots below)
